Q.E.P. to Create 35 Jobs in Blackford County
7/28/2010
MONTPELIER, Ind. (July 28, 2010) – Q.E.P., a manufacturer of high-quality hardwood flooring located in Blackford County, is expanding and will create 35 jobs in its Montpelier facility within the next 18 months. Q.E.P. also expects to add additional equipment and special tooling in the facility.
Q.E.P, which acquired the Montpelier site in early 2010, has begun interviewing potential employees and anticipates hiring several employees immediately. Q.E.P.’s expansion plans include the creation of a second shift at the facility where Q.E.P. manufactures engineered wood panels.
“Blackford County is fortunate to have employers like Q.E.P.,” said Rob Cleveland, Executive Director of the Blackford County Economic Development Corporation. “Since coming to Blackford County, Q.E.P. has actively worked to expand the Montpelier plant. The Blackford County Economic Development Corporation has supported Q.E.P. throughout their transition into Blackford County and will continue to utilize all resources available to assist Q.E.P.”
In early 2010, Q.E.P. immediately became a single-source supplier to its customers when it acquired ArborCraft Floors. The company’s addition of premium hardwood flooring, coupled with its stronghold on the flooring tools and accessories market, allowed Q.E.P. to become a ‘One-Stop Shop’ for home improvement needs.
“The expansion of Q.E.P. is a great step forward for the City of Montpelier,” said Mayor Jim McPherson. “We recognize that a key to lowering our unemployment rate is working with existing businesses to meet their needs to grow. The Mayor’s Office and the Montpelier Common Council will do everything in our power to help Q.E.P. flourish in Blackford County.”
