The following funds are dedicated to providing grants and distributions that support local projects and organizations engaged in developing the capacities of local young people to improve their skills and knowledge.
Blackford Bruin Boosters Fund
The Blackford Bruin Boosters established this fund in 2013 to support its activities. The organization is a local nonprofit that works with Blackford County Schools and the Blackford High School Athletic Department to provide a positive atmosphere and make a positive impact on student athletes, the local schools, and the community.
Blackford County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Endowment Fund
In the effort to provide more permanent funding for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in Blackford County, local advocates established a permanent endowment fund in 2014. The fund’s earnings help support this early reading program that puts a high-quality children’s book into the hands of any enrolled local child each month from the time of the child’s birth to his or her fifth birthday.
Blackford County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Pass Through Fund
This fund supports the short-term expenditures needed for the Blackford County Imagination Library Program. The program provides a monthly book to each enrolled Blackford County child between the ages of 0 and 5 years.
Opal Greenlee Memorial Fund
This fund was created in memory of Opal Greenlee, who enjoyed playing violin and teaching piano. The fund offers financial assistance in providing music or voice lessons and/or musical instruments to students.
Hartford City Public Library Nature Play Construction Fund
This fund was established in 2016 to support the initial construction and later the upkeep and maintenance of a nature play area located behind the Hartford City Public Library.
North Central Indiana Youth for Christ Inc. Fund
This fund was established in 2000 by North Central Indiana Youth for Christ, Inc., in order to benefit the Youth for Christ program in Blackford County.
Paul L. Roderick Memorial Fund for Benefit of Blackford County YMCA
This fund was established in memory of Paul L. Roderick to provide financial assistance to the YMCA with its mission of building healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for Blackford County’s youth. Mr. Roderick engaged in an active lifestyle himself by lifting weights, riding a bike, and walking.
The Women of Worth Endowment Fund
Donations from 250 local women who were interested in the welfare of women and children in Blackford County established this fund in 2009. The endowment supports projects proposed by local entities that will benefit the women and children of the community.
Young Men’s Christian Association of Muncie, Indiana, Fund
This fund is an endowment that provides financial support for capital improvements for the Blackford County YMCA.
