Arts and Cultural Development Funds

The following funds are dedicated to providing grants and distributions that support local projects and organizations engaged in providing access to fine arts for Blackford County residents.

Arts Place Blackford County Arts Center Designated Endowment Fund

In Loving Memory of Sarah L. Garrett
The children of Sarah L. Garrett created an endowment fund in 2014 in memory of their mother for the express purpose of supporting operations and programs at the Blackford County Arts Center in downtown Hartford City. Mrs. Garrett and her late husband Charles were farmers and former owners of several local businesses. Mrs. Garrett was an avid and accomplished painter.

Jack and Golly Forcum Arts Place, Inc./Blackford County Arts Center Endowment Fund

The family of Jack and Golly Forcum established an endowment fund in 2014 to provide permanent financial support to the Blackford County Arts Center located in Hartford City. Jack Forcum served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and later worked as an engineer at Delco Remy for 33 years. He and his wife Golly were married for over 60 years.

Opal Greenlee Memorial Fund

This fund was created in memory of Opal Greenlee, who enjoyed playing violin and teaching piano. The fund offers financial assistance in providing music or voice lessons and/or musical instruments to students. This fund also supports a scholarship for a student who plans to pursue an education in the field of music or music education.
